Grampo (Grampus griseus)

Le dimensioni medie di un esemplare adulto di Grampo si aggirano attorno ai 3.5 m, con un peso medio di 300-400 kg, mentre le dimensioni massime possono arrivare a sfiorare i 4.5 m con un peso attorno ai 600 kg.

The average size of an adult Risso’s dolphin is around 3.5 m, with an average weight of 300-400 kg, while the maximum size can reach almost 4.5 m with a weight of around 600 kg.

Risso’s has a characteristic color that allows it to be easily recognized by the "whale-watcher": the shade goes from light gray, typical of young specimens, to steel gray with the presence of white scratches that tend to make the color less homogeneous. especially in the rostral area.

Swimming, unlike other species, is rather slow, with emergence for breathing roughly every 15 seconds. They generally live in herds made up of a variable number of individuals from 3 to over 50. A curious attitude is the so-called "headstanding" (or vertical) in which the animal stands upside down with its tail out of the water, while the opposite situation is already rarer, the so-called “spyhopping”, a behavior which can however be easily observed in the Delphinids

Risso’s dolphin is an animal that prefers temperate-warm waters (with a temperature that does not drop below 10°C).
