In 1998 the Battellieri del Porto di Genova company launches, with the collaboration of WWF Liguria, the naturalistic whale watching excursions with departure from Genoa and Varazze. On the wave of the success of this initiative the following year the departures are remodulated, in order to serve also the city of Savona.

Who we are
The Consortium Liguria Via Mare was born from the union of the two main operators of Genoa and the west coast: Alimar and Battellieri del Porto di Genova.
The Consortium has motorvessels with a seating capacity from a minimum of 140 to a maximum of 350 passengers.
Our services include: the “Genoa by the sea” tour, day excursions with departure from Genoa, Genoa Pegli, Varazze, Savona, Loano and Andora to the most beautiful places of the Riviera (S.Fruttuoso, Portofino, Cinque Terre), transfer in the port area for cruise passengers, urban transport by sea during important events (Boat Show, Euroflora, etc.), boat rentals for parties or conventions.
We’re also proud to be today the leading company for the whalewatching and birdwatching by sea sector in Italy, with a growing increase in customers, coming from all over the peninsula and from abroad.
THE HISTORY OF WHALE WATCHING:
In 2000, the Alimar company also began this activity, organizing trips from Genoa, Loano and Alassio.
Following the example of the American Whale Watchers, from 2002 to 2005 the Battellieri del Porto di Genova company carries out an experiment linked to a Piper PA-28-181 aerial reconnaissance aircraft, to assist the motorboats searching for cetaceans.
In 2005 Alimar and Battellieri del Porto di Genova merged, founding the Consortium Liguria Via Mare.
With the passing of the years, thanks to the experience, to the harmony of the crews and to the expansion of the marine area in which the motor ships carry out the research they reached higher and higher percentages of sighting.
